The Idea

One finish line.
A thousand ways to get there.

You and your team are flown into northern Italy, then handed a cash allowance and a sealed envelope. Inside: directions to your secret start line, and your first checkpoint. From there it's down to you — buses, trains, your own two feet, and the kindness of strangers. Reach each checkpoint in order, take on challenges along the way, and race east across the continent to be first to the finish.

It's real

You genuinely don't know the route. Every decision — fast train or slow bus, push on or rest — is yours to make, for real, on the day.

It's analogue

Phones sealed away at the start. You navigate by map, by timetable, and by asking actual humans. Just like the old days.

It's looked after

A bed every night, transport covered, GPS-tracked throughout. The adventure feels raw — but you're never on your own out there.

How The Week Runs

Five days, end to end

Fly into Venice on Wednesday and transfer to the start. Race Thursday to Monday. Fly home from Romania on Tuesday morning. Everything in between — checkpoints, challenges, beds — is handled. You just bring yourself and your nerve.

Wednesday
Arrive

Fly into Venice, then a bus transfer to base for night zero. Meet the teams, get briefed.

Thursday
The Off

Allowances handed out, phones sealed, envelope one opened. The race begins.

Fri–Sun
The Race

Checkpoint to checkpoint, challenge to challenge. New city, new bed each night.

Monday
The Finish

Race into the finish city. First team home takes the crown. Celebration dinner.

Tuesday
Home

Fly home Tuesday morning from Romania. Sleep on the plane — you'll have earned it.

Five Legs Into The Unknown

You won't know where
until you get there

Each checkpoint is revealed only on arrival — a clue to a region, never a pin. Here's the shape of what's coming as you cross five countries' worth of borders, languages and alphabets. The names? You'll have to earn those.

?
Leg 1
The Border Breaker

Out of Italy and into the unknown. There's no clean direct route — you'll have to work out the change yourself.

?
Leg 2
The Big Day

The long one. A cross-border haul where the obvious route isn't the smart one. Read the timetable, not the herd.

?
Leg 3
Off The Obvious Path

A short hop that still makes you change trains in a place you've never heard of. Cheap — if you find it.

?
Leg 4
Small Town, Big Asks

Fewer departures, fewer English signs. This is where talking to locals — and nerve — pays off.

Leg 5
The Trap & The Finish

The direct way home is a trap that'll cost you hours. Spot the clever reroute and dash for the line. First team in wins.

What's In The Price

Handed back to you in cash at the start of the adventure to spend on the road.

All transport during the race

Your buses and trains across Europe are covered — you only sort flights in and out.

Challenges, points & prizes

Extra challenges along the way to earn time, points and prizes. The more you take on, the better.

Your flights in & out

Your travel insurance

You're responsible for arranging your own travel insurance for the trip. Sort it before you travel.

The Rules

The eleven commandments

Simple rules, fiercely enforced. Break them and you'll pay in time. Live by them and you're in with a shout.

01

No smartphones.

All phones sealed at the start. Breaking the seal outside an emergency costs you.

02

No flights, ever.

Air travel is banned for the whole race. Ground transport and your own legs only.

03

No taxi apps.

No Uber or Bolt. Licensed taxis hailed in person are allowed — but they'll wreck your budget.

04

Stay as a team.

Teammates travel together at all times. No splitting up to cover more ground.

05

Checkpoints in order.

Open each envelope only on arrival at the previous checkpoint. No peeking, no skipping.

06

The cash is finite.

Your allowance is your allowance. Run out and you walk, work, or charm your way onward.

07

Check in regularly.

Check in with Race Control at each checkpoint so we always know where you are.

08

Borrowing is fair game.

Asking strangers for directions, lifts, or a phone to call Control is encouraged. That's the spirit.

09

Challenges are optional.

Skip any you like — but you forfeit the time, points and prizes on offer. Choose wisely.

10

Be decent.

Respect locals, laws, and each other. No trespassing, no dodging fares, no being a nuisance.

11

The clock is king.

Lowest total time across all legs, minus your earned credits, wins. Simple as that.

Along The Way

Take on challenges.
Earn your edge.

Reaching the finish first is only half the game. Scattered across the route are optional challenges — complete them to claw back time, rack up points, and win prizes. Skip them if you're racing hard, or chase them if you're playing the long game. How you play is up to you.

Earn time creditsRack up pointsWin prizesGlory & bragging rights
Time · Points · Prizes

Optional challenges at every stage. The bold are rewarded. The cautious play it safe. Both can win — if they're fast enough.

Getting There & Back

You sort the flights —
here's the smart way

You sort your own flights in and out. Fly into Venice on Wednesday — it has frequent, often cheap flights from airports right across the UK — then it's a short, scenic bus hop to the start, revealed nearer the time. We'll cover your bus transfer. Fly home on Tuesday from Cluj-Napoca, in the heart of Transylvania.

Fly in to Venice (Wed)

Wide UK choice and good value. From the airport, a short bus transfer gets you to the secret start line — we'll cover it and send the details before you travel.

Recommended

Fly home from Cluj-Napoca (Tue)

Direct flights to the UK (Luton & Stansted) — book a Tuesday flight.

Looked After, Not Hand-Held

Feels feral.
